Transforming the Mind

Human beings lack true freedom because their minds are uncontrolled and unpeaceful. We have no control over the unpleasant thoughts and feelings that arise in our mind. As a result we lack inner peace and happiness. The only way to rectify this situation is to gradually transform our mind and tame it, so that it is peaceful all of the time. Through gaining an understanding of our mind, its function, its divisions, its potential, and the methods to transform it, we will definitely succeed in achieving lasting happiness.

Understanding the Meaning of Faith

Faith is probably one of the least understood spiritual practices. Many people think that a mind of faith is necessarily either a form of superstition, that it is blind and unquestioning, or is completely illogical. Those that hold such views are resistant to ever developing  faith because they believe that it requires a suspension of common sense and logic. This view is incorrect. Actual faith is based on logic, investigation, and analysis. It is an indispensable, prerequisite mind that is the principal cause of spiritual realizations.

Introduction to Buddhism

If you are not already familiar with the teachings of Buddha you may find some of the concepts and practices a little unusual to begin with. However, if you think about them patiently and sincerely you will discover that they are very meaningful and have great relevence to our daily lives. These days many people are discovering that Buddhism has answers to qustions and solutions to problemsthat cannot be found elsewhere. This course is based on the book of the same name by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. Join any course at anytime. Each class  will explore a different topic.                                 The cost is $10 class.
